A Toyota van rolled twice at the mouth of Provo Canyon Wednesday morning injuring the driver and three passengers, according to Provo Police Sergeant T.K. Meyer, who said the Toyota 4WD EFI was exiting 5500 North onto University Avenue when the tires slipped on the fresh rain on the pavement.
'It was a calm chain of events,' he said. 'The surface oils made the road slick, she overcompensated when she started to slide and when the van hit the gravel, it rolled.'
Three officers, an ambulance and a fire rescue unit responded to the accident that happened around 8:30 a.m.
The driver and her three children didn't receive major injuries.
'Luckily they were buckled up and only had a few cuts and bruises,' said officer Brett Christensen.
The passengers of the car were taken by ambulance to the hospital for precautionary measures.
'Sometimes people don't realize they need to be careful on these wet roads,' Meyer said.
Officers were still on the scene calculating the chain of events when the victims were taken to the hospital.
