Dear Editor:
We are negative, criticize and go against the grain just for the sake of doing it. Or at least I do. Ever since my career at BYU, as a professional student, started, it has been pounded into my head that I should not go jogging in the morning by myself. Well, that's not always convenient or realistic. If I didn't have someone to go with me, I would go by myself. How STUPID.
Even though I would like to think that I'm living in a perfect little bubble, called BYU, it's not always safe. And lots of times that is what people prey on -- our stupidity to think we are 'safe.' I've come to realize my wrong, repented of my little error and don't go jogging by myself ... well, at least if I can see potential danger lurking toward me. It doesn't seem fair that we have to be careful to avoid those few crazies, but come on.
We've always heard that an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and (let me state the obvious) it's true. Maybe you will be okay -- I was -- but it's better to be cautious and safe than sorry. Don't put yourself in a boat where you will later say 'if only.'
I hate to be rude, but all you STUPID women out there, get a jogging buddy! Every morning when I go jogging I pass at least five women who think they can outrun danger. But I sure have a good time commenting on this with my jogging buddy, like, 'Some girls are so stupid to go jogging so early and in such dark places and all by themselves.' And don't worry, I'm sure to say it nice and loud so all those STUPID women can hear me.
