'Halloween Hootenanny' is a scream. The new holiday album was released by Zombie A Go-Go records created specifically for the Halloween festivities. 'Halloween Hootenanny' is a compilation of many different types of songs.

The album is great for mood music at costume parties or just for Halloween fun. While some songs are spooky with scary sounds and blood-curdling screams, some are funny with a with a great beat that still accompanies the seasonal album. It is designed to be enjoyable, but includes appropriate sounds for the holiday.

The effects are realistic as well. Cackling witches, black cats meowing, and deep monster voices give you chills and some thrills.

The album can be played while going tee-peeing or scaring trick or treaters. It gives you a feeling of being in a haunted house. Although it wouldn't be a CD to listen to over and over to memorize songs, it would be a good addition to any collection for its intended annual use.

Each song has a different artist and style, but each keeps with the theme. The round up includes such 'notables' as Swingin' Neckbreakers, from the Crypt and Reverend Horton Heat. It even features horror show host Zacherle, as well as Rob Zombie and the Ghastly Ones. These singer-songwriters may not be well known, but they have an unusual talent to sing about spooks, ghosts and goblins all the time. The songs are creative and are fun to listen to especially when used as background music.

Halloween is fast approaching and for all of those that enjoy scares and the spooks, 'Halloween Hootenanny' is a good CD worth purchasing.
