ONE MORE SONG FOR THE PRINCESS

Senator Orrin Hatch, pausing from his battles in Congress, has penned a tribute song to the late Princess Diana called 'Many Different Roads.'

The soft-pop tune, which is also a tribute to the Mother Teresa, eulogizes the two women as defenders of children and stands as a memorial to each of them in their fight to help the children of the world.

Comparisons to the Elton John single 'Candle in the Wind 1997' are easy to find. The cover of the single features a one red rose, reminding thoughtful listeners of the opening line in the record-breaking single, 'Goodbye England's Rose.' Hatch also refers to Diana's touch as 'a candle in the night,' another similarity to the Elton John hit.

Hatch refutes these claims and dismisses them as nitpicking. He says his song is more 'mournful and uplifting.' Hatch continued, 'It's a completely different song from what he did, and I think it holds up on its own.'

This is not Hatch's first try at song-writing. Hatch has released two albums with composer Janice Kapp Perry titled 'My God is Love' and 'Freedom's Light.'

RAP AND ROCK RATINGS

The rock world is reeling after reports that legislation is in the works that would put a rating restriction on concerts. The ratings systems are currently being considered in Michigan and other state legislatures around the country.

Management groups, responding for groups such as Pearl Jam, have indicated they would not tour in areas that imposed these parental advisory labels on their concerts.

The red flags that will be scrutinized by these bills include offensive language, immoral acts on stage, nudity and drug usage. The penalties would not be harsh according to a spokesman for the senator responsible for the bill in Michigan, just essential for a labeling system to work.

SWEATING OUT SWEAT-SHOP SCANDAL

Kathie-Lee Gifford has had a couple of bum years. First, the sweat-shop scandal broke in 1996 that caused quite a ruckus. Then, her husabnd Frank was caught with another woman in a gossip magazine spread.

Well, the bad-luck that has followed her has come full circle with the news that another sweatshop has been closed in Manhattan that was pumping out clothes with Kathie-Lee's designer labels on them.

The workers were making a paltry $200 for a tough, 90-hour week when the authorities broke-up the sweat-shop activites.
