THEATER -- DRAMA: This week's student-produced one-act Mask Club play is ''Night Mother,' by Marsha Norman. The director is Kris Hall. Performances are at 1, 2 and 4 p.m. today in the Harris Fine Arts Center's Nelke Experimental Theatre. Admission is free.
THEATER -- RUSSIAN DRAMA: The Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages will perform Anton Chekov's 'Uncle Vanya' at 6 and 8 p.m. in 205 JRCB. Admission is free.
THEATER -- MUSICAL: 'The Christmas Box,' a new musical based on the popular Richard Paul Evans novel, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. in the Harris Fine Arts Center's Pardoe Theatre. It tells the story of a man's struggle to balance his family, work and personal life, and was written by faculty members Eric Samuelsen and Murray Boren. Rodger Sorensen directed it. MOVIES -- INTERNATIONAL CINEMA: Two films are at International Cinema, 250 SWKT, this week. Please note that these times are for today only. 'Sweet Hours' (1982, 105 minutes) deals with Spain's troubled past, and the ideas of memory and hope. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles; showtimes are 5 and 8:45 p.m. 'Children of Nature' (1991, 85 minutes) was nominated for an Oscar and tells of an old farmer who leaves his retirement home in search of life. It's in Icelandic (!) with English subtitles; showtimes are 3:15 and 7 p.m. Admission is free with IC card; $1 otherwise.
MUSIC -- GUITAR: Larry Green and Ethan Barbourka, the self-proclaimed 'masters of surfin' guitar music,' will perform at 7:30 in 151 TNRB. They will do four surf tunes, as well as South American tunes and music by Handel. Admission is free.
MUSIC -- STUDENT SONGWRITERS: Twenty student composers will present their latest creations in a variety of genres in the Songwriter Showcase. This 14-year tradition begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Madsen Recital Hall. Admission is free, but arrive early, because it tends to be a popular event.
