A few weeks ago President Hinckley came to our campus and presented a message that focused on the BYU experience. This is an experience each one of us dip into and take from, but do each of us add to this BYU experience ensuring it will continue for others? We pose the question: what are we individually doing to contribute to this BYU experience? We offer a few suggestions. Have you ever walked across campus, crossing paths with hundreds upon hundreds of students and not even acknowledged one person with a smile or a friendly hello? We've noticed this and know this kind of attitude does not contribute to the BYU experience. A smile or a nod is a small act that largely contributes to a positive experience for others as well ourselves.
Participating in countless activities offered by campus clubs, supporting the year round sporting events, various concerts and plays by talented BYU students and supporting service activities are another of the many ways we add to this BYU experience, all the while adding to our own.
We realize that the BYU experience is only existent as far as each of us is willing to contribute to it. As each of us take from this experience, as is to be expected, we hope the motivation is there to also contribute to this experience, ensuring it will continue for the hundreds and thousands of students yet to attend this campus.
