Animals were relocated in the Mexican state of Sinaloa due to ongoing gang violence on May 21. Veterinarians led tigers, monkeys, jaguars, elephants and a lion into a fleet of semi-trucks. The animals were evacuated to safety to the nearby coastal city of Mazatlán. Officials in the northern city of Culiacán said the animals were moved because criminal activity had increasingly threatened the safety of both people and wildlife.
