An Australian reporter was hit by a rubber bullet while covering protests in Los Angeles. Lauren Tomasi, a Nine News reporter, was reporting live on June 8 amid large-scale protests over President Trump’s immigration policies when an officer behind her suddenly raised a firearm and fired a nonlethal rubber bullet at close range, striking her lower leg. Australian Prime Minister told journalists the incident was “horrific” and unacceptable. After speaking with Nine News on Monday, Tomasi confirmed that she was okay and recovering. The immigration protests in Los Angeles are still ongoing.
