A Louisiana resident caught a sheriff’s deputy asleep behind the wheel at an intersection. The deputy was spotted around 1 a.m. on June 23, when a driver pulled up behind the patrol vehicle at a red light. When the light turned green and the deputy’s vehicle didn’t move for more than 30 seconds, the driver got out to investigate. They found the deputy asleep with music blaring. The motorist recorded the moment on video and eventually woke the deputy, who then drove away without explanation. The sheriff’s department said the unidentified deputy had been suspended pending an internal investigation. Officials said a possible health issue may have contributed to the incident, though that has not been confirmed.
