Eight people were killed when a boat capsized on Lake Tahoe, California, during a sudden and powerful thunderstorm on June 21. The storm whipped up high winds up to 35 mph and waves more than 8 feet high Saturday afternoon. Ten people were aboard the boat when it flipped. Two were rescued immediately and taken to a hospital in unknown condition. Recovery efforts for the other eight passengers lasted through Monday, according to the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
