The new king vulture baby chick is the first of its kind to be hatched at the Bronx Zoo since the 1990s. As king vultures often neglect their chicks, the staff is attempting to train the birds’ instincts by feeding the chick through a hand puppet crafted to look like a real vulture. The Bronx Zoo will pay special attention to the growth of the chick to ensure future offspring from the rare vulture breed.
