Mount Kilauea in Hawaii began an active eruption on Oct. 17. Kilauea hit record-breaking lava flows at 1,500 feet, and the plume of gas above the fountain rose to over 16,000 feet. The light show eruption ended at 3 a.m. on Oct. 18.
