The San Diego Zoo Safari Park captured a video of African elephants forming a protective circle around their young — an instinctive behavior known as an “alert circle.” The response was triggered by a 5.2 magnitude earthquake that struck Southern California late Monday morning, April 14. All animals and staff at the zoo are safe and have since returned to their normal routines.
