Why Ana Loveridge is a golden freshman addition to the BYU women's swim team

BYU swim and dive has a large freshman roster for the 2025-2026 season. It is a collection of athletes packed with various skills and high levels of achievement.

There is one swimmer in particular, Ana Loveridge, who is entering BYU with a long list of accomplishments on both the state and national levels.

The freshman out of Colorado was busy during high school, becoming a state record holder for the 2 free relays, as well as a state champion three years in a row.

Loveridge was recruited by various universities out of high school, but she chose BYU to continue her swim career.

When discussing why she chose BYU, she said, "I think the athletics, like the spirituality of BYU, and just being able to be close to my family."

Loveridge has the third-fastest time in the nation for 2 free relays, and ranked 5th place in 2023 in the National High School Team Ranking.

Having such an impressive collection of records and achievements creates an exciting outlook for BYU swim and dive fans. Though Loveridge herself is also just as electrified to be an athlete on the team.

"It's kind of the grind that you're in, and it's really great. I'm really excited to just like work with my teammates and my coaches and get better," she said.

The atmosphere of BYU athletics has been a major support for Loveridge and her excitement to continue competing and swimming to the best of her ability.

"It's really great to have your teammates around you, cheering for you and just being in that atmosphere where, like, it's not your success, it's the team's success, so you just want to do everything and you can to lift up the team," she said.

The All-State, All-American, and All-League athlete has been swimming her whole life, and there is high anticipation for her collegiate-level success as she has officially begun her freshman season.

"It's a very incredible, different feeling from high school or club," Loveridge said.

The BYU swim and dive team ranked first in their meet against Colorado Mesa University to begin the season. Loveridge ranked 7th in the 100 butterfly on the second day of the competition.

The environment of BYU swim and dive is one that Loveridge enjoys, and it is obvious that the team works well together to create successful results.

"They're just so supportive and wonderful, and it's a fun, competitive environment at practice where we're all pushing each other to be our best, but we're also supporting each other outside of the pool," Loveridge said.
