SALT LAKE CITY — A five-star No. 1 ranked recruit, the nation's top transfer point guard, a possible all-American averaging over 20 points a game and maybe the most athletic big man in the country, Cal Baptist was lucky to be playing on the same floor as No. 8 BYU.
On Wednesday night at the Delta Center, the Cougars showed their talent, depth and force in an 91-60 win over CBU.
It was too easy for BYU. When does Big 12 play start?
It was a Dybantsa show early on Wednesday. The likely top-three pick in the 2026 NBA draft had a beautiful Euro step into a runner that was reminiscent of a prime Manu Ginobili and also slammed a powerful fast break dunk that showed off his athleticism.
Dybantsa had 16 points in the first half, and finished the game with 22 points, five rebounds, five assists and shot 10 of 15 from the field.
"I thought he had like 50 honestly is what it felt like," BYU coach Kevin Young said.
Keba Keita, BYU's senior center, was also able to make light work against the lesser opponent. He had an even better stat line than Dybantsa if you can believe it.
In only eight first half minutes, Keita nearly logged a double-double, scoring 12 points and snagging eight boards.
He finished the game with 22 points, 14 rebounds — five offensive — and three blocks in only 19 minutes of play. It was the best game of his season, and a big sign that he is back to being healthy after struggling with injuries in the early games.
"He's had a little bit of a rough go, because he's had some injuries," Young said about his athletic center. "He was phenomenal, I mean his touch around the basket ... he was just an animal tonight."
Rob Wright lll, BYU's treasured transfer point guard, also threw himself into the stat party, getting his second double-double of the season.
It was the second time that he recorded an 11-assist double-double at the Utah Jazz's home arena this season. He accomplished the same feat against Wisconsin in November.
"I think he's the best point guard in the country," Dybantsa said about Wright. "When he's playing like that, we're blowing teams out."
Everybody on BYU's roster had such clean and effective games that first-team All-Big 12 member and leading scorer Richie Saunders didn't even need to shoot.
The 20.1-point per game scorer only shot the ball six times, less than half of his usual output. He still was able to put up 12 points on the night.
Young noted how Saunders was able to impact the game without his usual number of field goal attempts.
"Just his overall intensity," Young said about Saunders, "if you're playing next to that guy and you're not playing hard then you got something wrong with you."
BYU's next game will be at the "basketball Mecca," when the Cougars take on Clemson at Madison Square Garden.
This will be the last big test in non-conference play.
