This has been a big week for the BYU women's volleyball team as NCAA tournament play is beginning and many players have earned themselves some Big 12 awards.
For the 14th straight year, the Cougars will be dancing, making the tournament as a No. 5 seed in the bottom-right Kentucky bracket this season.
It’s marks their 38th overall NCAA appearance, where they’ve built an impressive 25–6 record in first‑round matches. At neutral sites, BYU is 19–13 all‑time, and 36 of their 56 tournament wins have been sweeps — including eight of their last nine opening‑round victories.

The team was sent off by fans as they headed out to Los Angeles, Calif., where it will face Big West Champion Cal Poly in the first round at USC’s Galen Center on Thursday at 6 p.m. MST.
This will be the Cougars' first-round matchup of the NCAA tournament and if they can come away with the win, they will play the winner of the Princeton-USC match, who will also be playing on Thursday.
For the sixth time this season, freshman outside hitter Suli Davis has been named Big 12 conference rookie of the week.
In BYU's five-set win against Utah on senior night, Davis broke the program’s all-time freshman kills with 26 on the night. Along with the title of rookie of the week, she has also made the All-Big 12 First Team, as well as her teammates, setter, Alex Bower and middle blocker Brielle Kemavor.
Outside hitter Claire Little-Chambers was named All-Big 12 Second Team as well. To top it all off, Davis was also named the Big 12 Freshman of the Year and All-Rookie Team.

BYU enters the tournament with a 22-8 overall record and a No. 22 national ranking after finishing 10-8 in Big 12 play.
Cal Poly enters the matchup with a 25-7 record after claiming its seventh Big West title and 18th NCAA Tournament berth.
The Mustangs had standout performances in the conference championship, including a career-best 17 kills from Chloe Leluge and a tournament-record 51 assists from redshirt senior setter Emme Bullis. Leluge was named Big West Championship MVP, while Bullis, who now sits at 4,244 career assists, is closing in on the program’s all-time Division 1 leaders. Cal Poly’s defense also delivered when it mattered most, holding UC Davis to a .169 hitting percentage and recording 12 blocks in the final.
The Mustangs last appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2019 and own a 15-17 all-time record across 12 appearances. Against BYU, Cal Poly trails the series 11-6, with the teams last meeting in 2016.
The Mustangs' balanced attack will test the Cougars' block and back-row defense. With Davis’ firepower, Bower’s steady setting, and Kemavor’s presence at the net, BYU has the tools to extend its postseason run and keep its streak of tournament success alive.
