The Smith Fieldhouse is ready to rock on Thursday evening at 6 p.m., when BYU women’s volleyball hosts No. 7 Arizona State for another Big 12 matchup.
After beating Houston in four sets last week, BYU has jumped back up to No. 19 in the AVCA national rankings.
Setter Alex Bower had a double-double last game, putting up 42 assists and 14 digs. This isn’t the first time she has put up big numbers for her team this season. She is ranked no. 9 nationally in assists per set.
Freshman Suli Davis has been a consistent playmaker for BYU. She earned a Big 12 rookie of the week award earlier this month. She also continues to put down monstrous slams throughout each set of play.
BYU will need to capitalize on every player doing their job throughout this matchup. ASU is on an eight-game winning streak, and the Sun Devils are ready to bring the heat to Provo.
The Sun Devils are sitting in the top spot in the Big 12.
The Arizona State right outside hitter Noemie Glover won her second Big 12 offensive player award this week. She hit a .422 and put down 36 kills to help her team come out on top over two ranked teams.
The Cougars' game plan on defense will need to account for Glover, who is a powerful hitting. They will need to shut her down the best they can with big blocks and point-saving digs.
BYU has lost three consecutive matches to ASU. The Cougars are looking to snap that streak Thursday night.
