BYU has named Natalie Broekman as its new head gymnastics coach, athletic director Brian Santiago announced Monday.
Broekman has been a key part of the program for over a decade, joining the coaching staff in 2015 and moving into the associate head coach role in 2021.
During that time, she has helped elevate the Cougars’ performance, contributing to eight of the top 10 team scores in program history.
As the team’s primary balance beam coach, Broekman has guided the development of four All-Americans and three individual national championship qualifiers. She has also played a major role in shaping the program behind the scenes, with involvement in recruiting, athlete development, summer camps and community outreach efforts.
BYU has qualified for NCAA regional competition every season she has been on staff and has finished in the top 25 nationally six times, including a No. 22 ranking in 2026.
In 2021, Broekman earned both regional and conference assistant coach of the year honors while helping lead the Cougars to a conference championship. She later served on the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association Board of Directors.
Before her coaching career, Broekman competed at BYU from 1996–99, where she earned NACGC-W All-American honors on balance beam in 1996 and served as team captain her senior year. She also set the program’s all-around record during her final season.
With experience as both a student-athlete and coach, Broekman brings continuity and familiarity to the program as she steps into the head coaching role.
