It's official: Utah Mammoth unveil new name, logo and branding

It only took 13 months, but it's finally here.

After countless surveys, fan votes and over a year of legal battles and deliberation, Utah's NHL franchise has landed on the Utah Mammoth for the team's official name.

Owner Ryan Smith brought an NHL team to Utah when he acquired the Arizona Coyotes on April 18, 2024.

Because of how abrupt the transition was from Arizona to Utah, it was decided that the new Utah team would have a temporal branding as the Utah Hockey Club, with black, white and an icy blue as the team's colors.

In January, fans who attended games got the chance to vote for Mammoth, Wasatch, Outlaws or Utah Hockey Club for the new name, and it seems that fans have spoken.

"The community chose the Utah Mammoth brand," Smith said. "It stands as a symbol of who we are, where we came from and the unstoppable force we’re building together.”

Wednesday's announcement came with a new primary logo, secondary logo, font and jerseys of the Mammoth's identity.

In its inaugural season, the Utah Hockey Club finished with a respectable 89 points, and was in the playoff mix until the last week of the season.

During Monday's NHL draft lottery, Utah jumped all the way up to the No. 4 pick after previously having the 14th best odds.

Between a solid young core, draft picks and a permanent identity, the Utah Mammoth have a bright future ahead.
