In first meet back from injury, BYU's Logan Hubler ties No. 3 all-time in 60m hurdles

LOGAN — BYU senior Logan Hubler, a 60m hurdler, had been on injury reserve for the past five weeks due to a hamstring injury. Hubler had been fighting to get back on the track but was limited to participating in his required rehab.

Over the weekend, the BYU track and field teams competed in the Roman Ruiz Speed and Power Invitational at Utah State University. It marked Hubler’s first meet fully cleared from injury and back to racing in the 60m hurdles.

Hubler ran a personal best with a time of 7.82, placed first and tied All-American Ben Barton for No. 3 three all-time BYU record in the 60m hurdles.

“It feels great. I’ve been on injury for the past four or five weeks, and I haven’t hurdled a ton," Hubler said about how it felt being back competing at full speed. "So this was kind of like my first test back to see if I’m ready to go, and the fact that I’m already better than where I was before, it’s a great feeling.”

Freshman sprinter Cambria Hasler also broke a personal record in the 60m dash.

“I’m super, super excited because the 60 is not really one of my main events. I’m usually running the 400, but I’m really excited," Hasler said.

Hasler broke her personal record with a 7.58 in the finals for a fifth-place finish. This puts her right outside the top 10 all time for the women’s 60m indoor sprint.

Junior pole vaulter Cailee Faulkner and freshman high jumper Mae Johnson both took first place in their events. This meet is Faulkner’s third consecutive first-place victory.

The Cougars will compete next at the Don Kirby Invitational in Albuquerque, N.M. on Feb.13-14.
