Former BYU basketball guard Trey Stewart is beginning the next chapter of his career overseas, signing with SBB Baskets Wolmirstedt in Germany.
The team competes in the BARMER 2 Basketball Bundesliga, the country’s second-tier professional league.
Stewart spent four seasons in Provo, appearing in 93 games and making four starts for the Cougars. Known for his energy and defensive presence, he now joins a growing list of former Cougars playing professionally across the globe.
“We are thrilled to see five of our players from last year’s squad start their professional playing careers all across the world,” BYU coach Kevin Young said.
For Stewart, the move is both exciting and challenging.
“I’m very happy with my experience over here,” Stewart said. “It’s a new chapter that I’m optimistic about. It’s something I’ve been craving — an uncomfortable challenge where I can grow as a person, grow as an individual, and make some adult memories in a different place.”
With Stewart’s transition to the professional ranks, Cougar fans will be keeping tabs on his journey in Europe while BYU gears up for its second season in the Big 12.
