Kyle Van Noy announced this week that he will be returning to Provo to watch his former team take on arch-rival Utah Saturday, lining up with his bye week with the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL.
Van Noy, currently an outside linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens, is a veteran presence on this Ravens linebacker squad, going on his 12th year in the NFL. He owns two Super Bowl rings, winning in 2017 and 2019 with the New England Patriots.
This will be the first time he will come to a game at LaVell Edwards Stadium since he last played here in 2013, as his NFL career has kept him busy throughout the years.
Van Noy's time at BYU was a legacy, as he played linebacker and was a key presence to the 2012 BYU defense that earned a No. 3 national ranking in total defense. He led the team in tackles-for-loss his junior and senior year all while logging stats in all 10 defensive categories for both seasons.
Van Noy was then drafted by the Detroit Lions in 2014 as a second-round pick (40th overall) after his last season with the Cougars.
After playing for 2 1/2 years with the Detroit Lions, Van Noy was then traded to the New England Patriots, where he played for three years, winning a pair of Super Bowls with Bill Belichick and company.
Van Noy then played for the Miami Dolphins, Los Angeles Chargers and the Patriots, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens in 2023, where he eventually became a Pro Bowler in 2024, logging 12.5 sacks in his best year.
This year he has battled with injuries, playing in only four of six of the Ravens' games this season. He has logged six total tackles, one sack in his four games to start off the season. He will look to bounce back after the Ravens' bye week this week, facing off against the Bears in Baltimore on October 26th.
Van Noy is a star around BYU, and fans are ecstatic that he's joining Cougar Nation in Provo on Saturday to cheer on the Cougars taking on the Utes.
