The No. 21 BYU women’s volleyball team remains in Arizona to play Arizona State in a rematch on Friday night after falling to the Arizona Wildcats in four sets on Wednesday.
The Cougars lost to the Sun Devils in a nail-biting five-set match a few weeks ago. They will need to dig deep to go into Tempe and beat ASU on their home court.
The Sun Devils had two Big 12 matchups last week, beating No. 13 TCU in four sets before losing at Iowa State in five sets.
ASU will be coming off a huge conference win against Texas Tech on Wednesday night. The Sun Devils swept the Red Raiders.
With that win, ASU reached 10 conference wins this season. Additionally, it is undefeated at home.
The Cougars will need all the weapons to come out hot and swinging on Friday night. BYU’s main hitters, Suli Davis, Claire Little-Chambers, and Brielle Kemavor will be the focal point for putting up points on the board.
The Cougars also have Alex Bower as their skillful setter to continue moving the ball around the court. Bower is second in the Big 12 play alone for hitting with a 9.95 assist per set average.
BYU will need to utilize its lead in the Big 12 in hitting percentage, aces per set, assists per set, and kills per set throughout this game to end up on top.
On the other side of the court, BYU will need to get the blocking game going against ASU’s juniors Noemie Glover and Ella Lomigora.
Both Glover and Lomigora are strong forces in the hitting and blocking areas of the game. This will be a huge threat to BYU, but the Cougars will look to adjust to their opponent.
