The BYU women’s tennis team defeated Kansas State 4–0 on Thursday afternoon in Provo.
The Cougars swept doubles and earned three completed singles victories.
BYU secured the doubles point with wins at Nos. 1 and 3.
Kendall Kovick and Gracie Levelston defeated Maralgoo Chogsomjav and Martaa Chogsomjav 6–4 at No. 1, while Bella Lewis and Sue Yan Tan clinched the point with a 7–5 win over Sasha Kyselova and Chanel Rustemova at No. 3. The No. 2 match featuring Sage Bergeson and YuYun Chen against Varvara Bernovich and Diana Smolinska was left unfinished.
In singles play, BYU secured straight-set victories on three courts to seal the match. Gracie Levelston won 6–1, 6–1 at No. 1, Kendall Kovick followed with a 6–2, 7–5 victory at No. 2, and Sage Bergeson added a 6–2, 6–2 win at No. 5.
Matches at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 were left unfinished as BYU clinched the match by reaching four points.
The Cougars extended their home winning streak to seven matches, while the Wildcats extended their losing streak to five.
After jumping nearly 30 spots in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings to No. 36, BYU will continue its weekend slate against No. 25 Oklahoma State.
The Cougars will host the Cowgirls on Saturday, March 28, at 11 a.m. MDT at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
