The BYU women's tennis picked up a 4–2 road win over Colorado Buffaloes women's tennis at the Meadows Club in Boulder, Colorado, on March 19, moving to 14-4 on the season after dropping the opening point in doubles.
Colorado moved in front early by taking two of the three doubles courts. BYU’s only win came at the top position, where Gracie Levelston and Karina Mohamed earned a 6–4 result. Despite that effort, the Buffaloes held a 1–0 lead heading into singles play.
The match shifted once the Cougars moved into singles competition.
Levelston evened the score at No. 1 singles with a 6–2, 6–4 win over Aya El Sayed. After gaining control in the first set, she stayed consistent through the second, limiting opportunities for Colorado to respond and bringing the dual back level at 1–1.
Sue Yan Tan followed at No. 3 singles, opening with a 6–1 set before working through a tighter second set that moved to a tiebreak. Tan closed it out 7–6 (7–2), giving BYU its first lead of the afternoon as multiple courts remained in progress.
Bella Lewis extended that advantage at No. 6 singles, finishing with a 7–5, 6–4 victory. The first set remained close deep into the later games before Lewis separated, and she carried that control into the second set to push BYU ahead 3–1.
YuYun Chen delivered the decisive point at No. 4 singles, defeating Lera Alexin 7–5, 7–5. Each set featured tight games and long rallies, with Chen winning key points late to close out both sets and secure the team result.
Colorado added its second point elsewhere in singles play, accounting for the 4–2 final margin, but BYU’s run across multiple courts had already determined the outcome.
The match at No. 5 singles, where Sage Bergeson was competing, did not finish after the dual had been decided.
BYU recorded singles wins at four different positions after trailing in doubles, with results coming from the top, middle and lower parts of the lineup. The Cougars’ ability to respond across multiple courts proved to be the difference in the match.
With the win, BYU moved to 14-4 on the season and completed a comeback performance on the road.
