BYU women's soccer will look to keep its unbeaten streak at South Field alive Friday night when it hosts Big 12 foe Kansas State.
The Cougars enter the match 6-2-2 overall and remain unbeaten in Big 12 play. They are also unbeaten against the Wildcats and will look to keep that streak intact Friday.
Kansas State enters the match 5-2-4 overall and 0-2-1 in Big 12 play. The Wildcats have yet to win a conference match this season and will look to make a statement against BYU.
One thing that has been evident this season is BYU’s success at home. The Cougars have played especially well at South Field, where the ROC student section has helped create an energetic atmosphere throughout the season.
After BYU’s second-half surge in its previous match against TCU, coach Jennifer Rockwood pointed to the student section as one source of the team’s energy.
“We played really well going towards the ROC. We love the ROC section and we tend to have a little bit more energy going that direction,” Rockwood said.
Freshman Anna Neff has also embraced the atmosphere at South Field.
“South’s amazing. Growing up as a little girl, this is the only place I’ve wanted to be,” Neff said.
The Cougars will look to several key players to continue that momentum Friday. Emma Hamberlin, Sophie Silvulich and Neff were standouts in the match against TCU.
Hamberlin and Silvulich have provided much of BYU’s scoring production this season. Hamberlin leads the team with four goals, while Silvulich has two.
On the defensive end, junior Presley Freeman has been a steady presence for the Cougars. Freeman is the only current BYU player to have started every match since her freshman season in 2024.
With another Big 12 opponent coming to South Field, BYU will look to protect its home-field advantage and continue its strong start to conference play.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at South Field. The match will be streamed on ESPN+.
