BYU women’s rugby set for road matchup against Grand Canyon

BYU women’s rugby travels to Phoenix on Saturday to face Grand Canyon in a matchup that could impact postseason positioning as the Cougars look to open the new year with momentum.

BYU enters the contest coming off a semifinal loss on Nov. 15, 2025, a result that ended last season’s national title run and has fueled the team’s focus entering the current campaign. Saturday’s match provides an early opportunity to reset and begin building toward another postseason push.

Grand Canyon brings a 3–1 record into the matchup, setting up a test between two established programs. Results against strong opponents often factor into national rankings as usual.

The Cougars have relied on physical forward play and disciplined defense, striving to control possession and limit mistakes. Establishing tempo early will be key against a GCU team that has played well on its home field.

Meetings between the programs have traditionally been competitive. A road win would give BYU a strong start to the year as it works toward returning to the national semifinals.

Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday in Phoenix.
