BYU women’s basketball returns home to face Iowa State

BYU women’s basketball is back in the Marriott Center on Tuesday night after back-to-back losses on the road in Kansas.

The Cougars will tip off against the Iowa State Cyclones at 7 p.m.

BYU is looking to settle in and get comfortable being back on its home court to bring some momentum and control back to the season.

BYU has the opportunity to win its 11th home game in the Marriott Center on Tuesday night, which would be the most since the 2022 season.

Lack of rhythm and consistency in the second half has been an ongoing trend for the Cougars. They have not been able to finish games in the final 20 minutes of their last handful of matchups.

Similar to the Kansas game, the Cougars were not able to stop Kansas State’s offense in the second half. They fell behind quickly and were never able to make up the gap.

BYU will need to clean up its defense and build more of an attack offensively to take down the Cyclones.

Iowa State is sitting at the No. 6 spot in the Big 12 Conference rankings. A BYU win would help the Cougars keep their postseason hopes alive.

Iowa State’s Audi Crooks is the Cyclones leading scorer, averaging 26 points per game. She is one of the top scorers in the nation and has continued to set school scoring records as well.

If BYU’s defense can shut down Crooks and the ISU offense, force turnovers, and limit second-chance points, the Cougars can slow down Iowa State’s tempo.

For BYU, a win would not only end a small losing streak but also put the Cougars back over .500 in Big 12 play and give them a chance to climb in the league standings.

A win for Iowa State on the road would be a boost as the calendar gets closer to March.
