BYU women’s basketball released its 2025-2026 conference schedule Tuesday as the Cougars enter year three in the Big 12 Conference, and in the first season under head coach Lee Cummard.
Finishing 6-12 in conference play (16-17 overall) last season, the Cougars are looking to turn a corner this season as they grow and develop under Cummard’s expertise.
The Big 12 has experienced a lot of change when it comes to rosters within the conference. Cummard is very intrigued with how that affects them this season.
“A lot of [roster] turnover has happened between last year and now … it's a new league, it will be interesting to see.”

BYU is picking up competition where it left off in 2024 with conference play beginning on the road as it takes on UCF in Orlando on Dec. 20. The Cougars lost to the Knights in the first round of the Big 12 championship last season.
After the Christmas break, the Cougars return to Provo and host TCU on New Year's Eve and Arizona State on Jan. 3. Both opponents came out on top over BYU in their last meeting. Following the home stand, the Cougars are back on the road as they take a trip to Tuscon, Arizona to match up against the Arizona Wildcats on Jan. 6, 2026. Staying on the road, BYU will travel to Houston, Texas to take on the Houston Cougars on Jan. 10.
BYU then prepares for a three game home stretch from Jan. 17-24, hosting Baylor, Texas Tech and West Virginia. The Cougars will then take a short trip to Stillwater and face Oklahoma State on Jan. 28, before returning to Provo for arguably the most circled game on the calendar, hosting the in-state rivals, the Utah Utes on Jan. 31. The Utes took the victory in both contests last season, so there is no doubt that the Cougars are looking forward to the competition.
Following the rivalry game, the Cougars travel to Kansas and face off against the Jayhawks on Feb. 4, and then the Kansas State Wildcats on Feb. 7. BYU is looking to bounce back this season as they come off of losses from both of these squads in 2024.
BYU nears the end of their hosting as they welcome Iowa State to Provo on Feb. 10. On Feb. 14, Cummard and his squad will take a trip to Boulder, Colorado for the first time since March 22, 2003, and compete against the Buffaloes. Returning home, BYU faces the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Marriott Center on Feb. 17.
To finish off their away slate, BYU matches up against in-state rival Utah once again in Salt Lake City on Feb. 21. Afterwards, they will travel to Tempe and take on the Arizona State Sundevils on Feb. 25.
Completing their regular season, the Cougars will host the Colorado Buffaloes on their Senior Day at the Marriott Center on Feb. 28 before preparing for the Big 12 Conference tournament in Kansas City, Mo., from March 4-9.
Cummard is confident in his players and is grateful for the retention he had this season as the coaching change made for some uncertain changes.
“I feel fortunate with how much production we have coming back relative to the rest of the league … looking forward to the challenge," he said.
Cummard is no unfamiliar face for BYU’s basketball programs, he has been a major part of the women’s basketball program for some time now, beginning with his experience as an assistant coach under former coach Jeff Judkins.
