BYU lacrosse's Easton Wilkey earns MLCA PEARL goalie of the week

Since 2024, BYU lacrosse goalie Easton Wilkey has only lost three games.

An impressive thing to note, as he has played in 45 games as a Cougar, a number that is only increasing.

Wilkey came to BYU in 2024 and earned the starting job at goalie as a freshman. He played in all 19 games that season and helped lead BYU to their sixth national championship. Oh, and he also helped the Cougars record their first ever undefeated season, ending with a 19-0 record.

Now a junior, Wilkey has been a mainstay for the Cougar defense.

When Wilkey missed two games due to injury, he made sure to hype up Isaac Hanson, the freshman goalie who was asked to take Wilkey’s place.

“Easton’s super encouraging after every save, every time out," Hanson said. "I’m coming off and he’s like, ‘Let’s go,’ and he’s specific. He (gives) specific compliments,” said Hanson. “Easton is the biggest hype man. He is awesome.”

On March 24, Wilkey was formally recognized by the Men's Lacrosse Collegiate Association with co-Goalie of the Week honors for his three-game performance in Tennessee, sharing the honors with Florida Atlantic sophomore Alexander Acker.

At the Rocky Top Round Robin event in Tennessee, BYU defeated Auburn, won against the defending national champions in Liberty, and edged out No. 4 Tennessee to stay undefeated on the season.

Wilkey’s save percentages against Auburn, Liberty and Tennessee were 66.7%, 61.9%, and 64.3%, respectively. Across the three-game period, Wilkey had 41 saves and allowed 23 goals.

“Easton Wilkey played like all-American goalie. (It was a) couple of his best games all year long,” said head coach Matt Schneck.

Needless to say, Wilkey is certainly living up to his pre-season All-American Goalie honor.
