The BYU diving team traveled to Los Angeles to compete in an invitational at USC last weekend.
The men's team started on Thursday, with Martí Llop finishing in third place during the 3-meter event.
Both Llop and Ashton Sparks were able to produce personal bests: Llop with a 350.65 in the preliminary event and 379.70 in the finals, and Sparks with a 306.25 in the preliminary event and a 307.30 in the finals.
Llop was able to finish in eighth place in the 3-meter event on day two with a degree of difficulty of 17.20, and Sparks with a 16.70 at 12th place.
To round off the invitational for the men's team, Llop placed 4th in the 1-meter event, finishing with a 316.95 in the finals. Sparks was able to score his collegiate personal best in the prelims with a 309.25.
The women's team started on Thursday with Brooklyn Goeckeritz landing in fifth place in the 1-meter event with a degree of difficulty at 14.40, and Sophia DeBergh finishing in 11th place with a degree of difficulty at 13.80.
Day two on Friday had DeBergh leading at the 3-meter event in 12th place with a score in the finals of 231.50. Aubryn Ordyna also placed 18th with a preliminary score of 213.20 and a finals score of 208.10.
The last day in L.A. was a trifecta in placements for the women's team, concluding with Goeckeritz placing in 8th place; scoring a 226.80 in prelims and a 201.95 in finals. Debergh also placed 13th with a 205.00 in the finals. Ordyna was another placement for BYU in 16th with a 184.20 in the finals.
Overall, the BYU diving team performed well and placed a combined 11 times during the three-day invitational against 10 other schools.
The team will not compete again until Jan. 3 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
