BYU baseball returns home Tuesday night for an in-state matchup against Utah Valley University at Miller Park in Provo.
First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. as the Cougars prepare for their final Big 12 series of the regular season later this week against No. 17 Kansas.
Tuesday’s game will be the 51st all-time meeting between BYU and UVU. The Cougars lead the all-time series 39-11 and have won 18 of the last 20 matchups, including the last four meetings. BYU is also 20-4 against the Wolverines at Miller Park.
The two teams already met once this season, with BYU defeating UVU 10-5 in Orem on April 7. Matt Hansen helped lead the Cougars in that game with three RBI and two runs scored.
BYU enters the matchup after a road trip to Texas Tech where the Cougars picked up a win in the three-game series. Utah Valley comes into Tuesday after playing a weekend series at Abilene Christian.
With the regular season winding down, Tuesday’s rivalry game gives both teams another chance to build momentum heading into the final stretch of conference play.
