BYU baseball was limited to two hits Friday in a 3–0 loss to San Diego State at Tony Gwynn Stadium, continuing a challenging road stretch for the Cougars.
The Aztecs controlled the game from the start, using strong pitching to keep BYU’s lineup off balance and prevent any sustained offensive pressure. The Cougars struggled to generate baserunners and were unable to move runners into scoring position for most of the afternoon.
BYU’s pitching staff kept the game within reach, avoiding a big inning and giving the offense chances late, but the Cougars could not find a timely hit to break through. San Diego State added an insurance run late to secure the shutout victory.
The matchup was part of the Tony Gwynn Legacy tournament in San Diego, where BYU continues nonconference play against West Coast opponents early in the season.
BYU returns to tournament action this weekend looking to bounce back and regain momentum as the schedule moves forward.
