The Big 12 conference announced Wednesday morning it has added a new LED sports floor to the court for both the men’s and women’s basketball tournaments coming up in March at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City.
Commissioner Brett Yormark hinted at a big announcement regarding the Big 12 basketball tournament in Kansas City on Friday. The new addition to their arena is something that is often done in professional arenas, but less so in college environments.
“I’m a first mover and our conference is a first mover,” said Yormark. “We’re going to be doing some things that have never been done in the collegiate space.”
Embracing innovation. Elevating the game. This is A Different League.

The LED court enhances the fan experience a lot allowing them to see shot charts, different court designs, and even interactive games that fans can play during timeouts and pause of play.
“This technology represents the future and bringing it to our basketball tournaments reinforces our commitment to innovation, positioning the Big 12 as a different league and national leader in elevating the game,” said Yorkmark.
The Big 12 had 106,229 fans attend the Big 12 tournament in 2025 in Kansas City.
Brett Yormark began his role as commissioner in 2022 and has seen many changes happen to the Big 12 including the additions and departures of a few teams.
His mission has continually been to elevate the conference and set the standard of excellence across college sports.
The women’s tournament will be held March 4-9 and the men’s tournament will be played March 10-14.
