Big 12 announces 2025 fall academic team

The Big 12 recently named 1,093 student-athletes to the 2025 Fall Academic team that covered the league’s fall 2025 sports including: cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.

BYU tied Oklahoma State with 13 student-athletes for the most in men’s cross country, including Carter Cutting who recently broke the BYU school record in the mile along with Oklahoma State All-American Ryan Schoppe.

Kansas led the Big 12 with 51 student-athletes in football with star quarterback Jalon Daniels at the helm.

Other notable leaders by fall sport were the Baylor Bears leading soccer with 18 student-athletes including 2025 Mid Fielder of the Year, Tyler Isgrig, while the Arizona State Sun Devils led volleyball with 2025 Women’s Volleyball Play of the Year, Noemie Glover, at the forefront.

In order to make the Fall 2025 Academic Honors, “student-athletes must maintain a 3.20 GPA or higher, either cumulative or over the two previous semesters, and must have participated in 20% of their team’s scheduled contests” TheBig12sports.com said.

“Freshmen are not eligible, while transfers in their first year of academic residence are eligible. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.” TheBig12sports.com added.

Other notable players to make it in the Big 12 include, TCU quarterback Josh Hoover; Utah quarterback Devon Dampier; BYU freshmen Bear and junior Tiger Bachmeier; Arizona State women’s volleyball Player of the Year Noemie Glover; Oklahoma State cross country runner Fouad Messaoudi along with many others within the stacked Big-12 conference.

According to the TheBig12sports.com, “5,110 students were named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll, which features student-athletes from all Big 12-sponsored and non-sponsored sports who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher. Seventy percent overall of Big 12 student-athletes were recognized on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.”

The Big 12 continues to highlight top performing academics student-athletes that also impact their sports at a large level.
