The NCAA Men’s Basketball Rules Committee voted to move the men’s 3-point line from 20 feet, 9 inches to 22 feet, 1 3/4 inches on June 5. The change will align the NCAA 3-point line with the international 3-point line, still shy of the 23 foot, 9 inch NBA 3-point line.

BYU women’s basketball season ended March 25 when the Cougars fell 72-63 to No. 2 seeded Stanford.

In the highly anticipated third meeting of the rivalry trilogy against No. 12 Gonzaga, BYU’s women’s basketball team clinched the West Coast Conference title and series sweep with a commanding 82-68 victory in Las Vegas.

Highlighted by a dominant second half, the BYU women’s basketball team stormed back from a 13-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat the Pepperdine Waves 68-63 in the West Coast Conference semi-final on March 11. The Cougars will advance to the WCC championship game tomorrow against an injury-riddled Gonzaga team that came into the tournament as the No.1 seed.

BYU men’s basketball conference championship hopes came to an abrupt halt March 9, losing 80-57 to conference seeded No. 7 San Diego.

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams finished their regular season schedules with wins March 2. With the postseason on the horizon, the two teams will now set their focuses on Las Vegas and the WCC tournament.

BYU Women’s basketball finished its regular season on a high note, logging a six game winning streak. Facing Santa Clara University on March 2, the Cougars scraped by with a 69-64 win, bringing their 2019 regular season record to 23-6.

With sole possession of first place in the WCC on the line, BYU topped No. 13 Gonzaga 70-68 at the Marriott Center on Jan. 17. Now hoisting a record of 7-0 in the WCC and a 15-3 overall record, the Cougars are on pace for 24 wins through their 29-game season. This would be the most wins they’ve recorded since the 2011-12 campaign when they recorded 26 wins through the 33-game season. A trio of scorers has helped BYU climb atop the WCC standings, and perhaps a national ranking is soon to come for the Cougars.

BYU athletic marketing has been busy preparing for a full day of sporting events on Nov. 17 when three BYU teams will host home games within a matter of hours.
