A pediatric patient experienced a mild allergic reaction one hour after peanut exposure. Emergency responders said the child was alert, crying and itchy, but showed no signs of respiratory distress. The parents were advised to give Benadryl to the child and to monitor the child's symptoms.
Traffic offense
A police officer responded to the Y Mountain Trailhead after observing two men, aged 61 and 74, riding e-bikes up the trail. After waiting for their return, the officer contacted them at the trail gate and warned mountain bikes and other motorized vehicles were prohibited on the trail.
Fraud
BYU Police responded to a report of fraud involving a student’s Cougar Cash account. The student noticed an unrecognized charge at the MTC, a location he had never visited. Staff said it was likely a malfunction rather than criminal activity but advised him to file a police report.
Citizen contact
A BYU professor received three emails and three handwritten letters from an individual in Pennsylvania. The message did not contain threats, but the professor has not responded and has blocked the contact.
Robbery alarm
A silent alarm was triggered at the BYU Creamery on ninth. Officers responded but found no issues, and employees were unaware of who activated the alarm. The alarm was successfully reset.
Accident — hit and run
A BYU security officer noticed a vehicle in the parking lot that appeared to have been recently hit. The officer contacted the BYU police, who responded to assess the damage. Officers confirmed with vehicle's owner that the vehicle was undamaged before parking. Camera footage captured the collision and the license plate number of the offending vehicle. Officer's contacted the owner of the offending vehicle and gathered all relevant information to assist the victim.
Suspicious person
The BYU Police Department responded to a report of an individual carrying a knife on 800 North, who entered the LSB. Dispatch guided officers to the person’s last known location using surveillance cameras. Officers discovered he was a BYU student involved in dissecting a bear’s head in one of the LSB labs.
A BYU police officer responded to a report of a suspicious couple in Wymount Terrace, who were found dumpster diving. The couple explained they were struggling financially and were simply looking for useful items. They collected their belongings and left the area.
