Education Week: A look at the volunteers who make it possible

Each year, campus comes alive for Education Week as thousands of learners move from building to building.

Though not always seen, many people offer a helping hand to make the process as smooth as possible. Almost 600 volunteers assembled this year to help with the crowd of around 15,000 people on campus.

Mikayla Robins, who has overseen volunteer efforts at Education Week for several years, explained the many roles they take on.

"They could be doing door greeting, watching for name badges, doing room counts, (or) giving directions," she said. "Literally anything you could think of, theyre there to help."

Volunteering can be a lot to handle; with so many Education Week participants, there is always someone in need of assistance.

Even so, volunteer positions are filled year after year without issue because of the amazing community volunteers get to interact with through their service.

"Everybodys here for the same team, the same reason," said volunteer Norm Klein. "They want to be more on Gods side and have God be more with them, they just are hungering and thirsting after righteousness, and so you couldnt be in a better place"

Getting involved is simple, and volunteers can sign up for short shifts. However, some volunteers warn that after starting, you can't stop.

"I cant get enough, I mean its just addictive to come and to feel this and to see people," said Klein. "Its like a snickers bar, you just cant get enough of them."

New volunteers are needed each year, and those interested in helping out should stay tuned for chances to sign up for Education Week 2026 next summer.
