While winter sports can be expensive, Gateway Parks in Spanish Fork offers a snowsports hill where anyone can come ski or snowboard for free.
Ryan Neptune is the man behind the parks, using his passion for snowboarding to give back to the community.
"Skiing and snowboarding is my life. I was the first ever U.S. Snowboard champion back in the 90's," Ryan Neptune said, founder of Gateway Parks.
Some Utah resorts charge anywhere from $100 to $300 for a single day pass.
"My first lift tickets were six dollars," Neptune said.
Neptune designs and builds the parks himself.
"I enjoy designing it," Neptune said.
Ticket sales from the tubing park fund the free snowsports hill Neptune has created for the community.
"This is their park," Neptune said. "I've had a life that's well lived when it comes to snowboarding, and this isn't an attempt to give back: it's just simply giving back."
Gateway Parks is open weekdays 12:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays 12:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
