Pregnancy Choice Utah was founded nearly 10 years ago to offer support to pregnant women in vulnerable circumstances.

Several religious groups stand and pray outside of a Planned Parenthood facility in Salt Lake City, but Mary Taylor, Pro-Life Utah president, said her organization has a different approach.

"Our mission is to offer women who are considering abortion, who are looking for an abortion, a different choice," Taylor said.

She said her organization helps women find satisfaction and happiness by choosing life for their children.

"We know that abortions can often result in ... all kinds of things," Taylor said. "So this option for a woman to choose something else is in her interest as well."

Brean Thorson, who volunteers with the Pregnancy Choice Utah mobile clinic, explained some of the resources that are available to women through Pregnancy Choice Utah.

"In our mobile clinic, we have free pregnancy tests, free ultrasounds and counseling ... plus a wonderful support team to support them through their pregnancy and beyond," Thorson said.

Volunteers stand on the sidewalk offering resources, as well as little goodie bags to women as they pull into the Planned Parenthood parking lot.

"We saved 141 babies last year and if we just stay on track and don't increase — and I really anticipate increasing — we'll do 180-200 babies this year," Taylor said.

She says she and her volunteers want to help women change their lives for the better.

"I have seen firsthand how women who are seeking an abortion really feel backed into a corner, really feel like they have no other options and nobody there to support them," Taylor said. "It's amazing with just a little bit of friendship ... how that can turn around for a woman and change her whole life."

Pregnancy Choice Utah currently sees about 20 patients every week in their mobile ultrasound clinic.
