Eats Bakery of Salt Lake City is set to open a brick and mortar storefront this spring.
The bakery has frequented farmers markets, such as the Gateway Farmers Market, for five years. Customers are often surprised to discover that the bakery's treats are vegan.
"Everyone was like, 'You can't even tell this is vegan!' It tastes like everything else," Candy Tesen, co-founder of Eats Bakery, said.
Candy Tesen started experimenting with her own vegan recipes after struggling with food sensitivity and allergies for years. She feels passionate about making sure people who need vegan options never have to sacrifice flavor, she said.
"The donuts are incredible. I think the pistachio is probably my personal favorite," Omar LeBron, a regular customer of Eats Bakery, said.
The demand for Eats Bakery's vegan treats has grown so much that the brand has outgrow farmers markets and is in need of its own storefront, Candy Tesen said.
Byron Tesen, Candy's husband and co-founder of Eats Bakery, is excited to continue the bakery's services.
"(I'm excited) to be able to supply all of our customers all of our products, seven days a week," Byron Tesen said.
The store front will be located on South Temple Street, where more people can enjoy the bakery's goods throughout the week.
The Tesens have started renovating their new brick and mortar store and are seeing their vision take shape, they said.
"Thinking about where we were then, and where we are now and where we're going to be in the next few months — it's just very exciting," Byron Tesen said.
The Tesens announced their new storefront on Feb. 15 during the middle of Black History Month. They are excited to advance their minority-owned business forward, they said.
