Currently, it is in phase two of construction, which will add ticketing counters and baggage handling.

Jensen said theyre hoping that more available space will encourage airlines to join the airport.

Really, itd be a very simple thing for them to just come in and start operating. Were hopeful we get one or two more airlines. Were hopeful we get many more routes and destinations for the public to use, Jensen said.

As well as additional gates, Jensen said theyre planning to incorporate more amenities for travelers, including restaurants and shops. They plan to open proposals in the fall once spacing plans are finalized.

Jared Shaw works at the airport and uses it for travel. He said the airport has already brought in more employees to accommodate the growth.

Im really excited since Salt Lake can be kind of busier. Not only that, I just think its cool that we have a small little airport thats becoming bigger, Shaw said.

Jensen recognized the airport for its convenience. He said the growth will increase opportunities for travelers to experience its benefits.

Obviously, were not as big as Salt Lake Airport; we dont want to be, but what we do have is our convenience. Come and give Provo a try at least once and see how convenient it is, Jensen said.

Throughout construction, the airport will remain operational. Construction is planned to be completed in 2028.

Check the Provo City Airport Facebook page for updates.
