Biology student researches preventing disease in fish
BYU student Kyler Linton is researching ways to fight Enteric Red Mouth Disease, a bacterial infection that harms fish farms worldwide.
Linton first came to BYU as a mechanical engineering major, but discovered his love for biology after taking anatomy and molecular biology classes. Now, as the first in his family to pursue that path, Linton hopes to keep solving real-world health problems through science.
Engineering capstone team turns setback into victory at national competition
When their sponsor canceled their project in February 2025, BYU’s “Smooth Operators” capstone team refused to give up.
The six manufacturing engineering students had spent months designing an automated sanding machine for acrylic awards and decided to finish it on their own. Their determination paid off when they entered the ASME/SME Student Manufacturing Design Competition and won first place.
Travis Lemon Receives the 2025 Honored Alumni Award
The BYU College of Computational, Mathematical and Physical Sciences named Travis Lemon the 2025 Honored Alumni Award recipient.
Lemon, a two-time BYU graduate, will speak at his Honored Alumni Lecture on Oct. 16 at 11 a.m. in the Talmage Building. Lemon will speak on “Initial Values and Meaningful Milestones."
Lemon says his greatest fulfillment comes from inspiring students and supporting fellow educators.
