Elder Alexander Dushku tells BYU students to choose Christ in all things

Elder Alexander Dushku of the Seventy delivered his devotional address on Sept. 22, urging BYU students to make a bold choice to Christ and never turn back.

“We have to let Christ in so He can change our natures — so He can give us a new birth and make us new creatures,” Elder Dushku said.

He said students must remember and see Jesus Christ as much more than a kind, helpful and wise Savior. He referenced John 3:16 to show the vastness, depth and infinite power Christ holds.

Elder Dushku’s message was about the final and essential choice we should make to choose God and His plan for us. He connected that choice to the love Heavenly Father and His Son have for us.

“When the adversary presses in, and temptations come, we must remember that we are choosing in that moment what we love most,” Elder Dushku said.

He said that by not choosing Christ, they are choosing something else in this world, and the other things of this world cannot bring the fulfillment and blessing that choosing Christ will.

“Why choose Christ? Because He is real! He is the most real thing in this world," Elder Dushku said. "He is 'in all and through all things’ the 'light and life’ of the whole world, and of your individual world and mine."

Elder Dushku also referenced society’s emphasis on individualism. He told the BYU attendees to turn their focus to eternal principles and truths.

He invited the audience to make the important decision now to choose Christ and put their full trust in him.
