John L. Hilton III gave a devotional Monday, Aug. 18, about Jesus Christ and His female followers as portrayed in "The Chosen".
“One of the reasons I love 'The Chosen' is because it’s helping to flesh out some of the lesser-known individuals,” Hilton said. “These women, including Joanna and Mary Magdalene, were helping to support the Savior and His disciples. These women are dedicating their time, talent and everything they have.”
“Women nowadays suffer from knowing who they are, like their identity as women. We have a lot of voices telling us who women are and who we’re not,” said Heather Foster, an Education Week attendee.
Foster said learning about women and their divine nature is valuable.
“The scriptures are so beautiful in that we learn who we are, we learn our purpose here, how much God loves us, and our divine potential. I need that. I need that strength in my life. There aren’t many examples of women in the scriptures," she said.
“Ultimately, it’s about the Savior: ‘I have called you by name, and you are mine.’ I hope you can feel the Savior saying those words to you,” Hilton said.
