With Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, Campus Floral is busily preparing to ensure everyone has the perfect bouquet to express their love.
Campus Floral is BYU's full-service floral shop. The shop's employees work each day to make sure students can spread that love through thoughtfully crafted flower arrangements.
Campus Floral receives boxes of deliveries almost daily. Shipments will be about four times their regular size in the days leading up to Valentine’s Day and travel to Provo from as far as Ecuador.
Because lilies and roses alike need intentional care, workers monitor the blooms' temperature and moisture to keep them fresh.
Corrine Smith, a Campus Floral employee, said she enjoys the work despite some stress.
“I really do enjoy seeing all the love and friendship and sentiment and care people have for one another,” Smith said.
Everyone on the team knows their role, Smith said. They work in sync to make sure fresh, high-quality flowers get to customers on time.
From watering to trimming to arranging, each of the shop's processes is especially important during the Valentine’s Day holiday.
Annalise Melanson, a student florist, has worked with flowers on Valentine’s day twice before.
“It’s fun being able to give people flowers because they’re so excited to give it to their significant others, which is really special,” Melanson said.
Knowing these flowers spread joy and care motivates staff to keep working hard.
“When words can’t say anything, flowers say it all,” Smith said.
BYU students and faculty can purchase fresh flowers from Campus Floral at a pop-up stand in the Cougar Eat on Feb. 13 and 14.
