BYU employees take a break at the Walkin' Out of May Fun Walk

On Wednesday afternoon, employees across BYU campus left work for a few hours to enjoy the sunshine at the Walkin' Out of May Fun Walk.

Avoiding burnout at work can be crucial to job enjoyment. The BYU Employee Wellness team hosts various events and programs for BYU employees to feel valued and stay healthy.

"Employee wellness is centered on the seven areas of wellness. We help employees bring their best selves to work," Elise Hudson, a BYU Employee Wellness staff member, said.

This month's walk gave employees a moment to recharge and reset in the sunshine.

"Since it's May, we have more of a flower theme," Hudson explained. "That's why we have the flower activities here and some different flower facts on the direction boards."

Fun walk attendees strolled around BYU campus near the duck pond, the Life Sciences Building and the library.

Healthy snacks were provided at the beginning and the end of the event.

"I have been an employee at BYU for 18 years and have enjoyed participating in the wellness events throughout my whole time I've been here," BYU employee MariLee Allred said.

A table near the Life Sciences Building helped employees create post-May goals. Various flower seeds and goal sheets were provided.

Employees participating in the walk loved taking a moment to reconnect and de-stress.

"It's nice to have something like this that is organized. It's a nice chance to get outside and take a break," Allred said.

Employee Wellness will continue holding events, such as the fun walks, throughout the year. The Fun Walks are available for all BYU employees.
