A son is holding a 5k run on Oct. 23 in honor of his father for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“In the future, I plan to start my own nonprofit where I can give directly to families, but you gotta start somewhere and I am so grateful and excited to be starting here,” Michael Boswell said.

The event will be from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in pavilion 2 at the Murray Park Center. The money raised will be donated to the patient fund at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

Boswell’s father was diagnosed in 2012 with Breast Cancer and went into remission, but the cancer returned in 2017 and he passed away. The 5k will have a food truck, face painting, fake tattoos and raffle tickets.
