BYU University Communications confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the campus has yet to uncover any confirmed cases among the BYU campus community.

The confirmation in response to queries from the Universe regarding an alleged case that was reported in a news tip to the Universe. In the news tip, a student said another student in her Spanish class had announced to the class that everyone working in the Benson Building would be tested for the virus after some workers there had tested positive for COVID-19.

University Communications, however, said this information is false.

“The protocol from the university will be to notify campus when we have a confirmed case among our campus community members. There has been no such notification to date,” Media Relations Manager Todd Hollingshead said.

He also suggested individuals frequently check BYU’s coronavirus page.

“It is updated constantly every day with the latest information on impacts to BYU’s campus,” he said.
