What to expect during homecoming week

It’s homecoming week at BYU, and events throughout the week are planned to help students and alumni celebrate their school spirit.

Homecoming week kicks off Tuesday with the Homecoming Opening Ceremony in the place of the regular 11 a.m. devotional. Later that night, students can hike Y Mountain with Cosmo and be there to light the Y. Students are encouraged to bring water and flashlights.

Thursday will be a day full of events. At 11 a.m., students can attend a seminar to find out about general education requirements. The Alumni Achievement Awards will also be presented. The BYU Spectacular featuring Ben Rector and Hilary Weeks will top off Thursday night.

On Friday, the BYU Spectacular will run for a second time, and students can enjoy games, food, music and prizes at the BYU Birthday celebration.

Saturday will see the Cougar 5k run, complete with blue pancakes, and the homecoming football game, where BYU will play Boise State.

Students can also look forward to the Student Association’s noonday activities, which will feature various activities every day at noon in Brigham Square.

Homecoming week promises a good time to all those who attend.
